The sun is a constant source of energy for the Earth and for the galaxy. It provides not only light, but also a gravitational pull for our orbit.

When I was a young child summer was the most glorious time of year. For any kid, summer vacation is the most heralded vacation available. Kids eyes light up with a joy that only a child of six or seven can exude. By summer vacation was doubly festive. I'm born on June 14th. So my birthday was a prelude to summer vacation.

I love everything summer. The ice cream man, long days in the pool and just playing, playing, playing. And so without surprise, I developed a love affair with the sun. I would bask in the sun drinking sunlight like a rejuvenating drink. It help nourish my spirit. It was a vital source of energy for me.

So when I grew up and saw there were religions and cultures that held the sun as an icon for God, I was ecstatic. The sun always pour light on everyone without judgement. The Taoists, Hindus, Kabbalists and several ancient mythologies attribute a deep ever lasting connection to the sun. And so any spiritual connection I can share with the sun is welcomed.
